Three AICIP PhDs completed in 2026

Konstantinos Georgiou, Maofeng Tang, and Fanqi Wang all defended and deposited their dissertations this year — spanning masked representation learning and the dynamics of neural training.

Three lab members completed their doctorates in 2026:

  • Konstantinos Georgiou (Spring 2026) — Learning from What’s Missing: Masked Approaches for Robust and Interpretable Deep Models. He has joined Amazon as a machine learning engineer.
  • Maofeng Tang (Summer 2026) — Advancing Self-Supervised Visual Representation Learning: From Multi-Scale Consistency to Disentangled Generative Models. Maofeng was lead author of Cross-Scale MAE (NeurIPS 2023).
  • Fanqi Wang (Summer 2026) — Selective Predictive Training and Structured Predictability in Neural Training Dynamics, the dissertation behind the lab’s Koopman-based training-dynamics line.

Between them, the three anchored the lab’s representation learning and learning dynamics research over the past five years — with papers at NeurIPS, ECCV, IGARSS, and ICLR. Congratulations, Drs. Georgiou, Tang, and Wang.
